Who I am

I’m Maryna Aleksandrova, a sole trader photographing newborns, babies and families as Marina Aleksandrova Photography in West Wickham (BR4). I decide how your personal information is used, so I’m responsible for it under UK data protection law.

What I collect

When you get in touch: your name, email or phone number, your due date or your baby’s age, and anything else you choose to tell me.
When you book: the session details, your address if the session is at your home, and payment records.
At your session: the photos I take of you and your family.

I don’t ask for health information. If you tell me something about your baby’s health (for example, that they arrived early) so I can keep them safe and comfortable, I use it only for your session.

Why I use it

To answer your enquiry, because you asked me to (legitimate interests).
To run your session and deliver your gallery, because we have an agreement (contract).
To keep business and tax records, because the law requires it (legal obligation).
To show your photos on this website, on social media or in adverts, only if you agree (consent).

Photos of your baby

I never publish a photo of you or your child without your written permission. You can say yes to some uses and no to others: for example, yes to my website, no to Instagram. Using a photo in an advert needs its own, separate yes.

You can change your mind at any time. Email or message me and I’ll remove the photos from this website and from my own social media posts within 7 days. I can’t recall copies that other people have already shared.

Who else handles it

I use a few trusted services to run the business, and they handle your data only to provide that service:

Google (Gmail), for email
WhatsApp (Meta), for messages
an online gallery service, to deliver your photos
my accountant, and HMRC if they ask, for tax records

Some of these companies store data outside the UK, protected by the safeguards UK law requires. I never sell your data or share it for anyone else’s marketing.

How long I keep it

Enquiries that don’t lead to a booking: 6 months
Your edited photos and online gallery: 1 year after delivery (please download your gallery)
Unedited photos: 3 months after your gallery is delivered
Booking and payment records: 6 years, as tax law requires
Photos you agreed I can publish: until you ask me to remove them

This website

This website doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t track you and has no forms. The server keeps basic technical logs to keep the site secure and working. If I ever add analytics or advertising tools, I’ll update this notice and ask for your agreement first.

Your rights

You can ask me to:

give you a copy of the information I hold about you
correct anything that’s wrong
delete your information, unless I have to keep it by law
stop or limit how I use it
send it to you or someone else in a usable format

Where you gave consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Just email or message me; I’ll reply within one month, and it’s free.

If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your data, please tell me first so I can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this notice

I’ll update this page if the way I use your data changes, and change the date at the top. If a change affects you, I’ll let you know before it happens.
